“You taught me language, and my profit on’t is, I know how to curse.” (I, ii, 365-366)
When Caliban says “You taught me language, and my profit on’t is, I know how to curse.” (I, ii, 365-366), he is speaking to Prospero. He says this because he is so frustrated that prospero will not treat him well as he used to and this is because Caliban raped Prospero's daughter, Miranda. When he says that all he can do is curse, he means that those were the only words that he used around Prospero and Miranda because they had treated him so badly. Caliban is asking for pity as well when he says this because he wants Prospero and Miranda to realize that his is in pain and he is calling for help. Yet he cannot hold back his anger because he has been treated so poorly.I think that Caliban deserves poor treatment because of what he has done. It was wrong of him to rape Miranda and her father Prospero has every right to treat him poorly. It seems as if Caliban sees Prospero as a father figure to her because he gave Caliban an education and kept him alive and it seems like Caliban wants that back. It is life that Caliban wants and do anything to get, he will even be a slave again just to live and survive. He just wants to be happy and kept in good condition and he is willing to do anything to get that and he is trying to guilt trip Prospero and Miranda to receive that.
